11 Dec Meet Our Staff
In this installment of “Meet Our Staff” we are asking Jordan Hagel, Assistant Golf Professional at Royal Manchester Golf Links a few questions so you can get to know him.
Q: How long have you been involved in golf and at Royal Manchester Golf Links?
A: I have worked in golf for four summers while in college, so this is my fifth year working in golf. I have been working at Royal Manchester going on 7 months.
Q: What is your favorite hole on the course and why?
A: My favorite hole at the course is hole #9 because despite it being a par 5, the decision to go for it in two, or layup is always tough (especially when the hole plays into the wind). The water that is in front of the green will collect a lot of golf balls when you try to go for it in two, and the green slopes front to back, so holding the ball on the green always poses a challenge. The collection area behind the green leaves you with a tough up and down. The hole is very visually appealing, and you really need to make decisions on how to play it and hit very good golf shots in the process. Just as easily as you can make a birdie, you can also walk away with a double bogey.
``One of the best story's was watching a fellow employee, Bob Ruby, drill a 30-foot birdie putt on hole #18``
Q: What’s your favorite thing about the area?
A: My favorite thing about the area, is there is always something that you can find to do. Between, Lancaster, York, Harrisburg, any given day you are able to find something to do with all of the attractions in the surrounding local area.
Q: Top 3 things for visitors to check out in the area?
A: If you are in the area, visitors should check out first Friday in downtown York. These happen on the first Friday of every month. Additionally, attending the York Fair is always an enjoyable time. Finally, whenever you are in the surrounding area, Hershey Park or Hershey’s Chocolate Factory is always a must. We are located about 40 minutes away from this sweet adventure.
Q: Best story from your time at your current facility?
A: One of the best story’s was watching a fellow employee, Bob Ruby, drill a 30-foot birdie putt on hole #18 in a 2-man playoff to win the Senior York Open, while a few of our employees working that day got to watch it.
